Support IRU Volunteers With Essential Safeguarding Training

Every day, IRU volunteers stand beside people facing some of the most distressing moments of their lives. They support victims of Islamophobia who may be traumatised, frightened, or unsure where to turn. To do this work safely and responsibly, proper safeguarding training is not optional—it’s essential.

This training ensures that every volunteer knows how to:

  • Recognise signs of vulnerability, distress, or risk
  • Respond safely and professionally
  • Protect clients from further harm
  • Maintain boundaries and confidentiality
  • Escalate concerns appropriately
  • Uphold the highest standards of duty of care

But as a small charity, we cannot deliver this training without your help.

Why Your Donation Matters

Many of the people who come to IRU are already feeling isolated and unsupported. When they reach out to us, they need to know they are in safe, trained, and trusted hands.

By helping us raise £2,000, you will:

1. Equip Every Volunteer With Professional Safeguarding Training

This ensures every victim receives safe, consistent, and trauma‑informed support from the moment they contact IRU.

2. Strengthen Our Frontline Response to Islamophobia

With the rise in hate incidents, trained volunteers make a direct difference to community confidence and safety.

3. Protect Vulnerable Individuals

Safeguarding training reduces risks, improves decision‑making, and ensures people in crisis are supported correctly and compassionately.

4. Build a Safer, More Resilient Community

When volunteers are empowered, the whole community benefits. Better training means better protection for everyone.

5. Multiply Your Impact

Every volunteer supports dozens of people each year.
By training one volunteer, you’re indirectly supporting every client they will ever help.
